Leave it in His hands...

Just in time when I was beginning to sink in the mud of discouragement and sorrow, this text was sent to me:

When you face an impossibility,
leave it in the hands of the specialist.
Don't calculate.
Don't doubt.
Don't work it out by yourself.
Don't worry or encourage others to worry.
Instead say,
"Lord, I'm carrying around something I cannot handle but I know that YOU can;
so I give it all to YOU."

I believe, this is exactly what God is saying to me... Because when I am faced with a great impossibility, He is my possibility. When things seems to be impossible to happen, He is the ONE who can MAKE IT HAPPEN. I have HOPE because of Him and I thank God for speaking to me at the right place and at the right time just to encourage and comfort me. Truly, NO ONE is like Him.

On Budget Red Lipsticks :)

What can you say, Ever Bilena Matte lipsticks are worth 99 petot only! :) That's why I immediately bought three EB red shades yesterday. They may not last for long, may be easily eaten or wiped out but they can be my temporary red lipsticks for now, while I'm still on a budget... Etude's red soft touch auto lipliner is also P98 only.

These are the swatches:
EB's Matte Siennas, Storm and Dusk (With flash)
EB's Matte Siennas, Storm and Dusk (Without flash)
Etude's Red Lipliner (with flash)
Etude's Red Lipliner (without flash)

I tried all of them on (including the lipliner) to see how I can carry them and how they looked on my lips and these are the results:
Among the three Ever Bilena lipstick shades, I think Dusk looks better on me. But what I like best is the shade of Etude's lip liner when put alone. It's shade is almost the same as MAC's Del Rio (but the photos, affected by lighting, doesn't portray much how the colors look in person). Siennas, on the other hand, doesn't look red at all but, it's a good natural lipstick shade.

Storm
Dusk
Siennas
Etude's Red Lipliner put alone
What amazes me most is Etude's soft lip liner. The liner stayed way longer than the lipsticks. It's the first time I had my own lip liner and I don't regret having Etude's soft lipliner as my first one. It stayed even after I ate and took a bath. Will definitely do back to Etude's house one day to buy the neutral-colored soft lip liner. I found the red lip color I like in Etude's soft lipliner. :)

Isaiah 55:8-11 (The Message)

"I don't think the way you think.
The way you work isn't the way I work."
         God's Decree.
"For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think.
Just as rain and snow descend from the skies
and don't go back until they've watered the earth,
Doing their work of making things grow and blossom,
producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry,
So will the words that come out of my mouth
   not come back empty-handed.
They'll do the work I sent them to do,
they'll complete the assignment I gave them.

I love it, I love it not

I love chocolates. I love everything about chocolates! I love them coated or not, plain or with nuts. But I don't like chocolates with fruits.
Photo from Google
However, when I started to seriously aspire to become a flight attendant, I began my research on what can make my skin look good.... This is what I found from an online article:
Don’t eat too many chocolates.  The cocoa flavoring stimulates oil glands to become active and the high fat and sugar content encourages spots.  Try eating apples instead.
Don’t eat more than two oranges a day; their high acid content can cause a red rash.  The same applies to grape fruits and strawberries.  Eat them by all means but don’t overeat them.
Don’t fall for fizzy drinks in hot weather.  They don’t quench thirst as well as cold water, fruit juice or tea and they are laden with sugar.  Cola, like chocolate contains cocoa extract and therefore stimulates oil glands to over activity.
So there! But, I know not everything on the internet is true especially when it says I should stop eating too much chocolate! Although this time, I still did further research to prove if the above claim is true.
While many women feel that eating chocolate or greasy foods causes acne, experts have not found a link between the diet and acne. Foods seem to have little effect on acne in most people. But, it’s important to eat a healthy diet for good health. (Article from Medhelp)
Chocolate, like many other foods, can be bad for your body if it is eaten in excessive quantities.  (Article from Thirdage)
I therefore conclude that chocolate doesn't really cause dark spots, it just stimulates the production of oil that can lead to breakouts and eventually, to dark spots. Chocolate is not the cause, just a catalyst. This is correct, as everything eaten excessively is really not healthy. So the solution is, eat everything in MODERATION. :)

Bye-bye Brush!

I knew it! Without having anything to do, blog would be my only fall back. But I'd be honest, bumming makes me guilty sometimes. Bear with me because this will be my regular routine until my temporary employer emails his next assignment.

Just wanna share that I gave my cute pink brush away to one of my good friends at church. She's now a happy pink kabuki brush owner. Hail to our bukis and all the buki-owners! I'm just glad that I have kikay church girlfriends whom I can share my kikay passion with though we have different degrees of kakikayan.

They (church girlfriends) say that the degree of your kakikayan can be measured by the number of your lipsticks. I have three lipsticks and I gave one of them to my mom. So, now, I'm a double-degree kikay. :) My other church girl friend, Coy, has the most number of lipsticks of us all and, that makes her the most kikay! Haha! I know she admits that, and I actually love her for that. :) My other big sister, Ate Lyra, also have an increasing number of lipsticks and, that makes her the second most kikay among the group! Haha! But I bet she'll be saying this isn't true so, I'll just put myself in the second rank.

...so much for that. Here's the Pink Baby Buki brush that I would like to bid my farewell to...

I know, she's in good hands now and I know her new parent will take good care of her too. :)

Kikay Morena's Makeup Loot

People close to me know how much I love makeup and how much I love to put them on. But, when it comes to using them (except for my minerals), I'm really canny. I know it takes practice to be able to master makeup applications but my thrifty character keeps me from doing it! You just DON'T KNOW how long I waited for them to be this near to completion... And I dread the thought of using the thousand-of-thousand pesos my kind sponsors spent for a not-so-special occasion like "practicing", Argh! Anything about makeup really is expensive. Now, I'm beginning to fully understand that it takes a big investment to become a real makeup artist.

Nonetheless, I believe that waiting produces wisdom and prosperity. So, I'll just wait for the opportunities to come to me. The makeup industry's always there and if I am for that, this desire will stick with me and I'll surely be pursuing it someday!
"But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing." (James 1:4, AMP)
If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. (James 1:5, AMP)
The good thing is, even though we sometimes have this material desires and worldly passions, God still invites us to ask from Him wisdom without conditions. We can just simply ask... Thank you Lord for that...

Anyways, here's my makeup loot, my hot goods, my personal collection mixed with my holy grails. I sooo love and treasure them. They are for me, equivalent to an expensive gadget that you don't want to get scratched or damaged. I take care of them, especially my brushes (but I wash them primarily because I also want to take care of my skin) and I only use some of them (especially the expensive brushes and makeups) during special occasions. As for the minerals, I use them every time I go to the mall or church because I know they're safe for regular use and they're more affordable than the branded ones. And someday, I know, I'll have a decent makeup organizer/ train case to keep them neat and organized.

So, here they are! (Thanks to my sponsors - my mom, Louie and Ellana... I won't be able to have all these without their help!)

These are what's included in my makeup loot:
1. Dollface's 10 pc. blush palette
2. Dollface's 88 earth color palette
3. Dollface 15 pc. concealer palette
4. Loreal eyeshadow palette
5. Ellana's Stawberry Vanilla lip scrub
6. Ellana's Bliss, Lust and Patience mineral powder blush
7. Ellana's Revive and Whimsy mineral powder concealer
8. Ellana's Macchiato and Caramel Latte mineral powder foundation
9. Ellana's Espresso Con Panna translucent finishing powder
10. Ellana's Yellow Submarine super sparkle finishing powder
11. Ellana's Butter Rum Coffee highlighter powder
12. Ellana's Beloved, Honeybunch, Ethereal, Raven , Dream and Wish multipurpose powder
13. Ellana's Ruby lip/cheek tint
14. Ellana's Makeitlast gel-based primer
15. Ellana's Allure liquid lip color
16. Etude's Henna Fix Mascara
17. Etude's Gold Proof 10 jewelry eye pencil
18. NYX's Milk and Cottage Cheese jumbo eye pencil
19. Elianto Concealer in No. 2
20. Nichido's Black Brown, Medium Brown, Brown and White eye pencils
21. Nichido clear mascara
22. Nichido eye lash curler
23. Revlon's Matte Mauve it over and Super Lustrous Fleshtone lipsticks
24. Revlon Custom Creations Foundation in Medium
25. Max Factor Foundation
26. Ever Bilena Pro Leg Makeup
27. Ever Bilena's Bronzer
28. MAC NC37 Studio Fix Fluid SPF15Foundation
29. MAC NW30 Studio Finish SPF35 Concealer
30. TFS's false eyelashes (used)

I know! Most of them are from Ellana and I'm glad I found this Pinoy cosmetic brand. You might think I'm trying to market the brand here but believe me, I try not to (though the inner selling skill in me is naturally coming out without me knowing it, haha!). I'm just saying that I'm only blogging what I personally felt and experienced about a certain product. And I can personally say, I'm in love with this product (Ellana)... I've always been and I always will! ;)

My Brushes:
1. Charm Pro Brush Set
2. Ellana's 5-pc Brush Set (My first brush set)
3. Charm's Flat Top Kabuki Brush
4. Charm's Concealer Brush
5. Ellana's flat top baby buki (not in the photo)

I've really been hankering to be a PRO makeup artist that's why I asked my mom to buy me the 21-pc. pro brush set, the concealer, blush and the e/s palettes, I'm just waiting for the best opportunity to practice. So if by any chance, you get to come by my house, be prepared to be my model.

I also don't have anyone to practice my makeup skills with at home that's why I'm that repressed when it comes to practicing and expressing my passion. As I've stated in my about me page, I have seven brothers and a mother who has no interest for makeup at all and my younger siblings are no longer that young and gullible... Now you understand why I started blogging ... :)

I hope this would be my first and last blog for the day! I'm beginning to be very addicted with blogging these past days and it made me realize that this is somehow related with my bumming... So, if you're a bum, blog too!!! Just be warned as this may really be very addictive... Trust me, I did! ;)

Temporary Makeup Case

I've been yearning to have my own cosmetics train case ever since I started to love makeup. And upto now, I still don't have my own simply because I've been practicing self-control, HAHA! Nah! When the funds are there and the time is right, I will definitely have a cosmetics train case of my own. :)

Bobbi Brown Beauty Box
For the mean time, this is where I put my makeups:

Tadah! It's a plastic shoe box! The funny thing is, this one's not mine either (HAHA)! I borrowed it from my brother and will be using it until I get to have my own makeup train case... I'll practice faith and will start believing that my train case will come soon! :D (Getting more addicted to makeup isn't easy BUT it's fun, haha!)

Flight Attendant Makeup?

I'm not a flight attendant, not yet but, will soon be! Still and all, many aspirants like me will agree that we have this one thing in common, MAKEUP... We all have questions about makeup, frustrations about makeup, shopping list for makeup and eager-to-learn attitude towards makeup. I can definitely say that MANY FAAs are going ga-ga over makeup!

Since I'm not the only one who is this nutty about learning how to put the right makeup, knowing the right shade, discovering the best lipstick and blush color, etc, etc, etc, I did a little research about how real FA's do their makeups and how important makeup is to their world.

Purely Pro Cosmetics
No-make-up Makeup Look from purelypro.com
"the attempt to have a "no-make-up" look takes lots of make-up"
By the way, if you want to know your skin undertone, click this link. This can help you choose the right foundation, eyeshadow, blush and lipstick color.

So anyways, here's what I saw from newflightcrew.com's article:
Makeup for Flight Attendants
For a Flight Attendant getting your makeup right is not optional. It is part of the over-all look and in my airline if you didn't have perfect makeup you would get a warning that could eventually lead to black marks on your record.
The same is true for your interview, please don't turn up with poorly applied makeup.
If you're really not that good (and trust me you will be after a year or so) then what I suggest is on interview day go see a professional.
My airline approved makeup regime
This method works for me and over time with plenty of practice, it can take as little as 15 minutes for the whole process. Some women may require more steps while others less but I believe that my routine is simple yet effective.
1. Makeup base
Most makeup bases work as a “hold” for makeup, helping makeup to stay on longer and at the same time moisturize face.
Flash Balm by Clarins – This product acts as a makeup base for me. Apply evenly on the whole face and wait for a few minutes before applying foundation/powder. It also acts as a “perk me up” to make skin look more radiant.
During the occasional pimple outbreak, I use the concealer by H&M.
2. Foundation
Studio Fix by MAC - Studio Fix is a powder and foundation in one that combines good coverage with easy application. You can say it’s for the lazy women or those in a hurry. The texture is velvety and provides a very matte finish. Re-application or touch-up is quick as well.
3. Eye Brows
Eye brow pencil by Shiseido – My brows are very sparse so this is a must.
I was taught to use a shade or two lighter than my hair colour so I wouldn’t look too fierce.
Drawing the brows takes skill which is developed over time with lots of practice.
Nobody gets it right the first few times and probably need several attempts at it.
Always be careful here as brows that are drawn too thick look really artificial.
Remember to use the brow brush to remove excessive application and to soften the look.
4. Eye Shadow
I have used the following over the years:
-        Shiseido
-        Kanebo
-        MAC
-        Red Earth
-        Bobbi Brown
My favourite are Bobbi Brown and Red Earth for different reasons. Just make sure you know your skin tone; warm or cool. Mine’s warm so I tend to use colours like brown, beige and cream. The eye shadow is usually applied from the inner lid to the outer and in small, light strokes. The first step is to use a lighter colour to apply on the whole eye lid. This acts as a highlight to make the eye sockets look deeper. Then a darker colour is applied on the bottom half of the top eye lid (Use double eye lid crease as guide)
Optional: Liquid or pencil eyeliner to “enlarge” eyes.
Eye Contour Gel by Clarins to prevent puffiness.
5. Mascara
After trying several brands, I find the most suitable and highly recommended one to be HYPNÔSE by Lancome. This mascara doesn’t clump or smudge and allows smooth application. After applying the desired amount, leave lashes to dry for 5 minutes and then use eyelash curler to enhance curls.
6. Cheeks
Blushcreme by MAC – This product is creamy and glides smoothly on cheeks. It will not crack like some other brands. Once again, choosing the correct colour is important and it is essential to determine skin tone.
7. Lips
There are 2 things I swear by when it comes to my lips – Lip Balm & Lip Liner.
Lip Balm – This is essential for moisturizing the lips. There’s nothing uglier than chapped lips. EEEEWWW! I recommend anything from Blistex especially the Herbal Answer and Spa Effects.
H&M Lip Liner – This is a great product and best part is; it’s cheap! It’s definitely US$5 well spent! The liner glides on the lips effortlessly and stays on for hours! The liner is important firstly to define the lip contours and secondly to ensure that the lips look good even when the lipstick slowly disappears.
Lipstick – Good choices are Slimshine by MAC, Sheer Envy by Red Earth, All-Day Lipstick by Estee Lauder & Super Lustrous Shiny Sheers by Revlon.
Actually, lipsticks preferences are very subjective, plus there are so many products in the market. At the end of the day, just choose one that fits your budget and more importantly one that contains moisturizing ingredients. When choosing colors, the same skin tone criteria apply.
Summary
Makeup is important in a Flight Attendant’s life. Knowing the correct techniques will help ensure the makeup is not excessively applied. When applied correctly it can help to enhance the features on your face, boosting your confidence and making you stand out in a crowd. Which is definitely what you want in a Cabin crew interview.
What Cams, also known as CMW_gal of PEX, said about FAAs and FA makeups is also correct. This is what she quoted:
Make sure you don't look pale. wear full makeup. use neutral eyeshadows, eyeliner and mascara. It's nice if you wear red lisptick - use a lip liner and use a lipstick brush for application. I suggest you use liquid foundation (if you have dry to normal skin type). Don't use cream foundation if you have oily skin. If sobrang smooth naman ng skin mo and you don't need to conceal anything (except your eyebags), you can use powder foundation pero mas okay parin talaga ang liquid.
Just remember, makeup brands which work well for other people may or may not work well for you. It's really important that you continue searching for the best cosmetic product that will look good on you and is compatible to your skin type and tone.

I am also still in search for the best cosmetics but, to continue my search, I must prepare my pocket too. I'm glad makeup boutiques have testers and knowledgeable staffs that can help us on our search! :)

But, aside from makeup, there are also OTHER FACTORS that can add up to our ganda points like, SMILING (a sincere smile), watching our posture and poise (the way we sit, walk and stand), and having confidence.
Photo from Google
Wonder woman!

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him."
Jeremiah 17:7 (NKJV)

"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."
"And the LORD, He is the one who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed."
Deuteronomy 31:6 & 8 (NKJV)

And there's where I get my smile and confidence... :)

How I fix my brows...

I've seen and heard how other women fix their eye brows. Some use eye pencils to outline the brows then they fill the inner area with an eye shadow, a brow kit/set or a clear or brown mascara. Some, just use eye liner to line and color their brows (but lining is not that simple). What I do is, like any other women, I use the eye pencil alone to make my brows look fuller.

I've been wanting to have MAC's brow set (something that looks like a mascara) but, I'm still waiting for funds. That's why for now, I just bought an eightynine-peso worth clear mascara to help put my bushy brows into place.

For the eye pencils, I use Nichido to line my brows and my lids (their really affordable and the color stays for a day!). I currently have their black brown, brown, medium brown and white eye liner colors! I'm sure they only have little or no difference at all with other imported cosmetic products since they both serve their purpose very well. Because of that, kudos to (our very own) Pinoy cosmetic brands!

TOOLS

THE PROCESS
Unfixed brows
With Brown Eye Pencil on Right Eye Brow
(Mirror Image)
I shaded my brows using light short strokes, enough to fill the spaces and give the brows the natural color they need... You can use a brow brush to spread the color evenly and make the color touch the skin. To set the brows in place, I used a clear mascara from Nichido. I saw an article saying that a tiny bit of hair spray can be sprayed into the brow brush before brushing, to hold the brows together. I might try that tip next time.

So here's the finished product!
I like my brows to look fuller as it is the trend nowadays, unlike the time I first had my brows fixed during high school. (The first time I had them fixed was a total disaster. The beautician shaved almost half of my brows making it look short and very thin.)

So here's how I fix my brows! Not that professional but, this works out for me now. :)

How do you fix yours?

Taking time to think

After all the stressful planning and preparation, I've decided to pause first for a while and think. I know God will make everything clearer to me without having to prepare too much. May He guide me and lead me.
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."
(Matthew 11:28-30, MSG)
Nothing and no one comforts and encourages me more than the Word of God. Thank you Lord! Amen. :')

Ever Bilena Pro Leg Makeup

I bought it! And it's worth P125 only. I'm amazed how it is a makeup and at the same time, a body lotion. With it's worth, I'm not really expecting a lot. And after trying, my bland expectation was actually met.. In short, nothing much happened. The coverage was very minimal though it lightened the leg and the arm area a bit. Over all, since I didn't expect much, I wasn't disappointed. The lotion, also known as "Pro Leg Makeup", can be used to even out leg and arm color but not cover unwanted spots and blemishes. Just remember to put it both on the arms and legs, so you won't have your arms lighter than your legs or vise versa.
Would I purchase again? Definitely NOT. This made me more eager to try out Sally Hansen. Sally Hansen has four shades available as seen in their website (Light, Medium Tan and Deep). I just heard that this one is a bit pricey here in the Philippines (around P900 to P1,000) so, I really have to fix my budget first before purchasing.

Aside from Ever Bilena's Pro Leg Makeup, I also bought a clear mascara (for eye brow setting) and brown eye pencil (for brow lining) from Nichido. :)

Will post how I fix my brows next time!

Don't let it be out of your mind

‎"...And don't for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you'll get where you're going; then you'll succeed. Haven't I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don't be timid; don't get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take."

Red Lipstick

I said I won't be able to wear red lipstick before but I also quoted what Ms. Shen said, "never say never!"... Anyways, this is it! The time has now come for me to carry the red lips! And I'm now in search for a very good dark or any red lipstick that'll suit my Morena skin for FA applications. I've tried Del Rio from MAC and Fabulous Fig from Revlon, they both look good on me but, I'm still looking for something darker and more flattering on my lips and skin color. I hope I would find one immediately, and I hope I'd find something not so pricey. :)

Correct Choice of Eye Makeup

I recently blogged about the time I attended CAS workshop with MAC. What I particularly liked while I'm there was, the neutral MAC eyeshadows applied on me. It was one of the reasons why I went there, to know the right eye makeup for corporate look and job applications. So, the workshop somehow met it's purpose. To give us visuals, here's a photo of me (again) during the workshop...
Very close up look (hope it's not annoying o_O)
However, these MAC eye shadows are too expensive (they're like around P900/ pot). Since I don't want to spend so much money for an e/s pot, I decided to find an alternative e/s with the same shade from my all-time favorite mineral brand, Ellana.

I went and checked Ellana's multipurpose powder samples at SM Makati to see which shade may be the best alternative for MAC's Matte Wedge and the pale pink eye shadow included in a MAC e/s set. Then, I saw Honeybunch (pale brownish peach frost) and Beloved (mid-tone chocolate brown). Honeybunch is a good base. It's frost is subtle which, is enough to work out as a very flattering base. On the other hand, Beloved is a matte, mid-tone brown shade, perfect for shadowing and contouring. Beloved gives a neutral look that is very suitable for a corporate look. :)

I'm glad that I chose the right eye shadow shades and I'm glad that I bought them from Ellana. They are called multipurpose powders because the brown shades can be used to contour the nose, shade the brows and many more while, the lighter shades, for highlighting! :)

These two pots cost me P260.00 only (P130/pot)! The price is indeed very cheap for a mineral makeup. :)

I used these two multipurpose eyeshadows immediately and this is how it looked on my eyes:
Honeybunch as base
and
Beloved as shadow
(Will take another photo of this again with a heavier mineral e/s application)
Till next time!

Meditate on these things...

I've always known how meditating is important for us to have peace of mind but, just last night, I was able to comprehend deeply what God meant when He said, "Meditate on it..."
Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. (Philippians 4:8, MSG)
I thought I am already meditating until this came to me last night. Then, I realized, I wasn't meditating correctly at all. I wasn't meditating on things that are best, beautiful and to praise...
Dream house from canstockphoto
My being too preoccupied of my dreams isn't meditating on what is best, beautiful and to be praised because  they sometimes give me anxiety, get me nervous and make me unsure of what will happen in the future. Then, God reminded me, the best, beautiful and things to be praised are what's written in Jeremiah 29:11.
"I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for..." (Jer. 29:11, MSG)
This has always been my favorite verse but I wasn't aware of it's real meaning until God explained it to me. I also wasn't aware that I really am not believing and meditating until God showed me the first verse stated, (Philippians 4:8). Though I know these verses already, they have not made this impact to me before the way they had today.
Whatever is beautiful, not ugly, best and not worst, to praise and not to curse, MEDITATE ON THESE THINGS...
I believe my dreams and hopes aren't there to make me anxious or unsure. They are there to remind me that ONLY GOD HAS THE BEST FUTURE FOR ME. I tend to settle on what I believe is best for me and forget, "GOD KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING and HE HAS IT ALL PLANNED OUT...". But the truth of these words remain...

All of these tells me that even if I'm not able to reach my pictured dreams, God still has the best plans for me-- plans to take care of me and not to harm me, plans to give me the future I hope for.

I love it! I love His words. Nothing comforts me more than His word. His words truly give hope and life that will never disappoint. I know He holds my life and my future. Amen and amen. :)
